IR, as a subspeciality, first came to my knowledge during my internship in 2015. 6 years later, IR was still intriguing me with its innovation where countless tools can be used in various ways creating new techniques to help patients in a minimally invasive manner.

Throughout my residency & fellowship at Ain Shams University IR unit in Egypt, I’ve been trained by one of the best IR teams in the Middle East; having observed, assisted on & performed hundreds of visceral interventional procedures. If you can name it, we can do it; be it vascular or non-vascular, in the adult or pediatric age group.

IR also feeds my passion for ”learning via teaching”. Training younger colleagues impels me to constantly grow my knowledge base & revise the basics of the trade. Teaching later inspired my applauded talks; the PAIRS 2018 oral presentation about pediatric central venous access & the online introductory presentation about HCC interventions as a part of the renowned series (Was Once A Beginner) of the PAIRS  RFS committee.

Simultaneously, I’ve attended many IR webinars during the Covid-19 lockdown to be exposed to different international IR experiences. I am currently working on my publications as I hope to contribute to the IR body of knowledge one day.

I am currently a medical intern in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As a son of a diagnostic radiologist, I grew up between CT and MRI studies. However, during my exposure to the field of interventional radiology (IR) in my internship, I was astonished by the innovative and skillful hands of interventional radiologists. A field where clinical judgment and innovation are combined to deliver the best treatment to the patient. Thus, I determined to consider IR as a future specialty and join the community of “The New Magicians!!”.

As an aspiring interventional radiologist, I was involved in many IR-related activities like attending the last PAIRS-21 conference and several PAIRS webinars, joining the Journal of vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR) media team, volunteering at many conferences, taking my electives at IR-departments, etc.

I am passionate about peer-assisted teaching, education, and research. My long-term goal is to serve this field especially at the medical students and interns level with the help of our respective IR mentors and seniors and mainly through Pan-Arabic research and awareness.
